The Head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), Police Commissioner General Budi Waseso, stated that flakka drugs have officially entered Indonesia. This conclusion is based on findings from the BNN laboratory team.
“Yesterday, based on laboratory analysis by BNN, we identified the entry of flakka-type narcotics. So the flakka seen by the public on YouTube has indeed already entered Indonesia,” Budi Waseso said during the event ‘Buwas’ Message for Indonesian Children’ at the BNN Office in Cawang, Jakarta, on Friday (July 21, 2017).
“This has been proven by our laboratory. Previously, we were still uncertain, but now we officially declare that flakka has entered Indonesia,” he added.
According to the man commonly known as Buwas, flakka has extremely powerful effects. Users who consume the drug may feel as if they are no longer human or behave like someone who has lost their sanity.
Based on these findings, BNN will take preventive measures against the circulation and abuse of flakka. He also explained that the flakka discovered by BNN was in powder form.
Flakka contains an active chemical compound called alpha-PVP, a stimulant that triggers an increase in dopamine levels.
Dopamine is a type of neurotransmitter in the brain. When present in excessive amounts, it can cause extreme pleasure, high levels of aggression, and loss of consciousness.
The side effects of flakka use are almost similar to those of cocaine and amphetamine-type drugs.
In the short term, flakka users may experience excessive euphoria, rapid heart rate, increased blood pressure, and heightened alertness or paranoia.
Another terrifying effect of flakka use is its impact on the kidneys. The substances contained in this drug can cause muscle weakness and lead to hyperthermia, a dangerous condition in which the body temperature rises abnormally.
